Chico's is an El Paso staple, with that being said it's an acquired taste. I would recommend everyone try it at least once and decide for yourself. I've had several non El Pasoans try it and some loved it and others could not handle it. 1 single order is 3 tacos, a double order is 6, but they come in the same size plate with the same amount of cheese and sauce so you decide what you prefer.
Honestly I've had better Taquitos (Tacos) from HEB. I'm also sure I can just dip it in any HEB salsa for 5 min and come out with a better tasting product. The only thing that was actually pretty decent was the King Hotdog. Also no refills on drinks. But this is my honest review. I'm from San Antonio.
I’ve been eating here for many years coming from Austin but always my hone town. This place for some reason the taco meat taste with old oil and that’s nasty. So please do better. Thanks for the great food!
My chico's were good but the fries weren't cooked right.
I had Chico's tacos 8 years ago and it was delicious on a road trip passing through I decided to take a detour to have some but it was dissappointing not as I expected and the security guard wasn't very hospitable.
Outstanding tacos! You can drink the sauce!
I went to Chico's Taco's this morning and waited for them to open at 10am. Placed my order, received my order and went home to enjoy our Taco's for lunch. When I was getting ready to reheat the sauce I noticed that it looked different than normal. That's when it hit me they watered down the sauce. It wasnt as thick and flavorful as it usually is. Not very happy at this point. Very disappointed.
I had a single and a hotdog. The tacos were as wonderful as always. The hotdog has lost some of its flavor. Something in the hotdog tasted bitter. I couldn't put my finger on it. After a few bites, I just left it. Oh yeah, I had fries too. Crispy outside and tender onside.😋😛
Food is normally good here however today’s meal was a bit disappointing. Sauce was missing flavor and fries were dry. There was no waiting time due to the fact that we arrived before 11am. Usual wait time is 20-30 min.
NO forks NO salsa NO salt NO ketchup for fries NO napkins COLD sauce watered down sauce COLD hotdogs COLD fries bad service the security guy was cool but overall very dissatisfied not going back to this chicos and do not recommend it. The one on dyer in CENTRILL IS BETTER
Love everything about the food! Very unique and delicious!! Long lines but they are quick with getting orders out! I only wish they would accept is credit/debit cards. We usually have to go to our bank to get out cash. Luckily they do have an ATM there if you cant get to your own bank. Anyways, I come every time I visit family in El Paso!!!
Chico’s Tacos- Your either gonna love it or hate it, but it’s worth a try so you can decide. You will only find Chico’s in El Paso Tx. The “Tacos” are really more like Flautas, as for the price it’s not bad, but be prepared because each person reacts differently to this place. It’s worth a try & a scratch off the bucket list.Important Note: CASH ONLY!!! They DO NOT except CARD. There is a ATM machine in Chico’s, note that it’s $2.25 per withdraw.
After waiting for so many weeks for Chicos to reopen, it was a big disappointment for my take-out order today. Never have I seen such a little speck of cheese in all of my 3 orders of tacos. I called to complain, and the supposed Manager Javier was very nonchalant about my complaint; he never apologized at all. All he said was, "do you have your receipt." OMG, I was very DISILLUSIONED!! THUMBS DOWN !!!!
Its good. always get it to go
Visiting from Dallas and had to go to Chico's. It was better the second time we went. The first time it took long to get our food even though there were much less people than the second time. The tacos were soggy and difficult to eat. The second time made up for the first time. We got our food real quick and the tacos were very crunchy and delicious. I have to go back before I head back to Dallas.
I grew up on these tacos... Not the same cheese.... Not the same anything!! Super watery sauce... Inconsistent!!
The food sucked the meat in the tacos was old and it stank. The burger I got was cold. The only thing good was the drink but then again it was more ice than beverage.
Although the double orders were great and tasty, it isn't the same ingredients from years ago. It's different and tastes good but if you're expecting the old taste, it's a bit of a shame for not being so. Nothing lasts forever.
It is still a great place to enjoy the delicious rolled tacos, fries and thirst crunching soda.
Have been eating does delicious chico tacos for the past 66 years
So these are my .02 cents. Reason I didn't give 5 stars is for one reason, very important reason. Cash Only. I get it, in order to accept cards, the restaurant incurs charges and therefore driving food prices up. However prices have in fact gone up, please make it more convenient to dine in without having to bring cash or pay an ATM. It's not a damn strip club. As for the food, you either love it or hate it. Bring cash to figure out what side you are on. 🤑
I just ordered take out at Chico’s tacos on George Dieter, very disappointed and dissatisfied with quality of food, ordered 2 singles and fries, tacos were extra crispy and meat inside was very overcooked , practically burnt , even sauce looked like it was mixed with older cooked sauce. I live close by and regularly used to go before they had to.close due to Covid, we went to takeout 2 weeks ago and even then their tacos were not as good as before. Called to let them know of their bad food, but phone just rings and no answer, I was not going to ask foe a refund, just wanted to complain so they can stop serving unacceptable food and prevent more dissatisfied customers! So sad!
Waited almost 40 minutes to get our order for take out. The gril behind the counter was very rude , when we got home tacos were salty and had very little cheese on them. They use to put cheese on the side but not this time. The hamburger had a really thin meat and hard to top it of.. Will never go back to that location. 1365 George Dieter.
I love Chico’s only reason I gave a 4 star review is because you can never call in an order! Nobody answers the phone so why even have one... then you go and there’s plenty of people there that could’ve answered! Don’t get it 🤔
I remember this place as a kid, and it still taste the same. great food. not a long line for most of the time.
I traveled from San Antonio to El Paso with the anticipation of eating Chico's Tacos only to find out the restaurant was completely closed. I called all 5 restaurants with no answer but showed up to the George Dieter location. On Google it showed Chico's to be open with Take-out available. You should update your information or have an answering machine saying you're closed. Very disappointed.
As good as ever. Organized and following Covid-19 protocol as best as possible.👍
I love this place If you go to El Paso texas you need go eat in this place
Very good food, everyone wears a mask, you can eat there, good service!
Tacos lost it original flavor, taste, and cheese sorry I was very disappointed
One of those places where you had have grown up in EP to appreciate! My sister's and I wait for each other when we come back into town to all go for our run to Chico's Tacos!!! Thanks Chico's and staff for so many fun memories!!!
lb.. quiet because of the virus but still a good place to go in for lunch
I know this is an El Paso institution, but the employees can be a little bit friendly to the customers. A simple thank you or even a little smile can go a long way, then just saying "Next, what can I get you"!
You haven't been to El Paso unless you've visited Chico's Tacos - home of the fried, rolled tacos (known as flautas) filled with ground beef, topped with cheese and submerged in a delicious tomato broth. My friends were trying to describe the dish to me before I'd visited and suffice to say I wasn't convinced I wanted something deep fried that sits in a bowl of liquid, but when I tried it, I didn't doubt them any longer. There are various branches of the restaurant dotted around El Paso and there's often a queue. It's also heavily featured on various food programmes so the locals and tourists know where to go! Prices are very reasonable. Around $5 with tax for a double portion of 6 tacos. Most people double up the carbs and get the fries too. They do a tasty jalapeno sauce which is great for dunking your fries and slathering all over the tacos. There are other items on the menu but this restaurant wouldn't be ideal for vegans.
Ta especial chikos takos all day everyday
We live 120 miles from El paso and we always stop at chicos for orders to go. Today for the first time, it was really grosse. So disappointed 😞 couldn't eat them.
It was my first time there I loved the food and service .....
Great food.
Bland two-day-old stale taquitos swimming in a vinegar chili sauce. Even the cheese they put on top was tasteless. This place is disgusting. Without a doubt some of the worst food Mexican or other that I have ever had. I don't know what's wrong with these people around here. They just don't seem to know any better. Which is odd because Mexico. Is like 11 ft south of here?
It’s always nice to go home, because Chico’s is always there waiting for me.
Not as good as the old style but still good
What is there to say about Chico's that hasn't already been said? This place is like home to me. There's nothing like coming in and sitting down with your tacos or a hotdog with your family and friends while picking music from the jukebox which ALWAYS has good tunes to pick from no matter what you listen to. Chico's is a place where you can form bonds with people. Where families come together.
I recently visited chicos twice in over 7 years and its sad to say that it dont taste the way I used to remember it, and prices have ballooned to the point where I feel I am paying for a 4 star meal at a 1 star place, service was bad and the youngsters get a fit when you ask them for something that should be included.
Good tasting, feel good food.
Montwood or goerge dieter never answer phone and when they do they hang up on you!!!!
Horrible service i have ever had whoever this man is that took my order was really disrespectful and I will not put up with it. I been to this Chico's all my life and to have horrible service the way he talked to me and my mother he deserves to be fired never coming back to this store even though I grew up in this Chico's.
We love going to Chicos Tacos every time we go into town.
I love chicos! It always hits the spot! Thank you for the quick & friendly service! Delicious!
It's a bit confusing here as to what they serve but I was able to figure it out pretty quickly while in line. Their specialty is rolled tacos drenched in a mile tomato based sauce, hot dogs with beans on hamburger buns, and fries. While they are definitely inexpensive I wouldn't consider it a great value. They we're lively and busy when I went there for lunch but it's not food that I found delicious. If I were to go again I'd hope it's late at night with some friends, probably more fun that way.
Must visit this El Paso favorite at least once! You always know what to expect when you hit up Chicos! Make sure you bring cash because they dont take cards. Food is always good and the price is low.
